Detroit By Detroit Showcase Highlights Favorite Local Bands

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) What if you could get 16 of the most popular bands in one place honoring the work of Detroit musical legends? Welcome to the DETROIT by DETROIT showcase.

Sixteen local bands are joining the event this Saturday where they'll cover any Detroit artist who is currently active or has been in recent years. Each act will play three songs by the Detroit band or musician of their choice, with covered acts ranging from the nationally‐acclaimed Mayer Hawthorne and Bob Seger, to local favorites like The HandGrenades and Passalacqua.

For the second year in a row, proceeds will fund a special scholarship at School of Rock – and new this year, students of School of Rock will open the show, performing songs by one of their teacher's bands. Hip in Detroit will emcee.

This year's line-up includes:  BIG MESS as Bob Seger; THE SATIN PEACHES as The HandGrenades; THE JET RODRIGUEZ as Marvin Gaye; JAMES LINCK AND CHRIS JARVIS as Passalacqua; THE HANDGRENADES as George Morris; STEVIE SOUL AND OMAR ARAGONES as Mayer Hawthorne; THE WALKING BEAT as The High Strung; FLINT EASTWOOD as Eminem; WOODMAN as Silverghost; REVOIR as Matthew Dear; ALMOST FREE as Javelins; BLAIRE ALISE AND THE BOMBSHELLS as The Sights; THE ILL ITCHES as The Stooges; THE SPLIT as The Von Bondies; RED CHINA as Heroes & Villains; SCHOOL OF ROCK as The Hard Lessons.

Doors will open at 8pm, with a $5 cover donation. All ages are welcome.
