Guitars Autographed By The Greats Up For Bids In Dearborn

DEARBORN (WWJ) - Music fans can get their hands on some great memorabilia this weekend in Dearborn.

Beaumont Hospital's annual "Stars Guitars" Fundraiser happens Saturday night, April 20, at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.

The event features live and silent auctions. a strolling dinner and a performance by The Little River Band.

Proceeds will benefit two programs - the Charles A. Main, M.D. Pediatric Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund and the Pediatric Oncology Late Effects Clinic at Beaumont Children's Hospital.

Pediatric Oncologist Charles Main said the money raised helps childhood cancer survivors go to college and reach their full potential.

"This children have a tremendous potential," Main told WWJ Health Reporter Sean Lee. "They have faced death; they're much more mature than their peers are. Many of them want to go to college, but they don't have any money left.

"The family has spent their savings taking care of the children," he said.

Some of the biggest names in the music industry have autographed guitars for the auction. They include One Direction, Hall and Oates, Lady Antebellum, Maroon 5, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Zac Brown Band, Glen Campbell, Kenny Rogers and Van Halen.

Along with autographed guitars, other auction items include: restaurant packages, jewelry, home goods, sports memorabilia and more.

Tickets to the family-friendly "Stars Guitars" event will be available at the door for $75.
