Group Puts On Party To Lure X Games To Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's a free party in Detroit to support the city's bid to host the extreme sport competition called the X Games.

Founder and Director of X Games Detroit Kevin Krease says the party will show the city's promotional video bid., which features wheelie-popping on the lodge and donuts on top of Cobo.

"The whole point of tonight is to debut our ... longer video - promoting our effort in the film to bring the games to Detroit from LA," said Krease . "And this film is really one of our promotional marketing pieces.  It's also our first event that we are doing to bring everyone together in the community that supported us."

Krease says that there will be DJs there, live bands, raffles, the MAC shack and more to keep folks entertained throughout the evening.

More than a dozen cities are vying for a chance to host the X Games from 2014 to 2016.  The party starts at 9 p.m. at the Eastern Market Shedd 3 and is free.
