Engineering Job Fair Monday In Novi

NOVI (WWJ) - More than a thousand jobs are available to those who qualify, Monday in Novi.

Organizers say 50 employers will be on hand at the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD) Spring Engineering and Technology Job Fair, underway now at the Suburban Collection Showplace.

ESD Senior Director of Programs Leslie Smith said employers are looking to fill about 1,800 positions and experience required will very from job to job.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Pat Sweeting said Edward Fagan with Link Engineering.

"We're looking for a variety of different technical specialties -- mostly in the mechanical engineering, software engineering and service technician areas," Fagan said. "We look for manufacturing centered individuals who have experience in an automotive environment."

Companies will be seeking applicants in the following areas:

Engineering (all disciplines) including: Architects, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Design, Energy, Electrical, Biomedical, Environmental, Aerospace, Transportation, Biofuels, Defense, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Programming, Technical and many other engineering and technology-related fields.

Representatives from University of Michigan Dearborn will also be on hand with information on classes designed to boost your engineering and technology skill sets.

The job fair runs until 7 p.m. Monday.

Admission is free to ESD members and $15 for non-members.
