DETROIT (WWJ) –  A young woman murdered at the Corktown Inn was the first of five people who died in Detroit over a 24-hour period last week.

Along with the 21-year-old woman who was shot and killed at the Inn, a 20-year old was shot and killed while sitting in a car on East Warren near Alter Road.

A 23-year-old man died after being shot during a fight on Davison near Dexter. A 37-year old died after being shot after an argument with family members at a home on Hereford Street near Cadiuex and Warren. And a 49-year old who was working outside a bar on East Davison near McNichols was found dead early Saturday.

Police are looking for information in all of the cases, as well as three other shootings that took place over the weekend.

In the Corktown Inn incident, police said an unidentified man had been looking for the woman’s room before she was killed. Investigators have released a photo of that man, who is sought for questioning in the shooting. (See it here). The suspect in the East Warren shooting  is described as a black male in his teens, wearing a blue shirt, blue pants and white shoes.

Anyone who knows anything about any of these crimes is asked to call Detroit homicide investigators at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up. Tipsters calling Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous.
