Ferret-Napping? Prosecutors To Review Case

MACOMB TWP. (WWJ/AP) - The owner of a pet ferret wants charges brought against a 17-year-old girl after the animal went missing following a party at a Macomb County's home.

According to police, the 35-year-old woman's 16-year-old daughter had friends over Saturday night at their home in the 46000 block of Springwood, near 21 Mile and Heydenreich roads in Macomb Township. When the party was over, the woman noticed the ferret was missing.

Investigators say a 17-year-old who was at the party told them someone gave her the animal while she was leaving the home. The girl said she didn't believe she was stealing the ferret, according to Detective Sgt. Jason Abro of the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

The animal was spotted in a photo on Facebook and that's when the woman contacted police. The ferret has since been returned to its owner.

Abro said investigators plan present the case to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office for review. He says the girl could be charged with larceny.
