The time has come; all the waiting, hoping, wondering if this years’ Lions draft will make sense. The answers will start coming in around 9 pm EST Thursday Night, maybe earlier if you believe the trade down possibilities. All I know is that this needs to be, should be, and will be a watershed draft for the Lions. Let’s take a look at who I think the Lions will take in the first three rounds.

1ST ROUND #5 OVERALL (FOR NOW)

Dee Milliner CB Alabama

I have felt this would be the best pick here for months now and feel that if Milliner is there and the Lions don’t pull the trigger, they will regret it for a long time. The Lions secondary has gone from a liability to what could be a true threat with the resigning of Chris Houston, Louis Delmas, and the free agent pick up of S Glover Quin. If they draft Milliner, you get a CB who played at the highest level of college football, did it well, and can start game one of the 2013 season.

2ND ROUND #36 OVERALL

Demontre Moore DE/OLB Texas A & M

Moore was once considered a top-5 pick, but then had a horrible combine and shot down the charts. He didn’t lose any of his tremendous talent though, and a bad combine has just made taking him in this spot in the second round that much more valuable. The Lions desperately need an athletic DE and Moore gives them that and a rookie that I also feel can start from day one.

3RD ROUND #65 OVERALL

Barrett Jones G/OT Alabama

Jones can play four positions on the O-line and played his college ball in the best conference in the land, so he will be ready for the jump to the NFL. The Lions need big LT help after the retirement of Jeff Backus and even with youth at both the tackles, Jones and Riley Reiff would be very formidable.
