1. Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk must get on the score sheet. It wasn’t a coincidence the Red Wings surged down the stretch of the regular season to secure a playoff spot at the same time each of their top players got a hot scoring hand. It wasn’t a coincidence, either, they dropped Game 1 of the series Tuesday with Datsyuk and Zetterberg not registering a point.

2. Jimmy Howard has to step forward and star. The Red Wings’ goalie was pretty good despite the Game 1 loss. The Red Wings, however, need Howard to be great.

3. The Red Wings must avoid bad penalties. The penalties on Jordin Tootoo and Jakub Klndl that led to power play goals by the Ducks were unnecessary.
