Arrest Made After 3-Year-Old Injured In Hit-And-Run

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say they've made an arrest after a 3-year-old girl was injured in a hit-and-run accident.

The accident happened around 8:15 a.m. Friday in the 10000 block of Nottingham, near I-94 and Harper Avenue on the city's northeast side.

Police say a driver in a silver Dodge pickup truck struck the vehicle the girl was riding in before fleeing the scene. According to police, the girl was thrown from the car upon impact and landed about 30 feet away near a driveway of a residence.

EMS crews tended to the child at the scene before rushing her to St. John Hospital. Police say the child is alive, in temporary-serious condition.

Officers responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle. After a brief chase, police say the suspect was taken into custody.
