Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! It's the weekend again, which means it's time for road work and intermittent lane closures in metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Detroit/Wayne County, westbound I-94 from Moross Avenue to French Road, and eastbound from Cadieux to 8 Mile roads, will have single-lane closures from 9 p.m. until 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights for lighting and sign work.

In Wayne County, the eastbound I-94 ramp to Livernois Avenue will be closed from 6 a.m. until noon on Saturday for permit work.

I-75:

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 from Saginaw to Grange Hall roads will have double-lane closures from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday for resurfacing.

In Oakland County, the southbound I-75 exit and entrance ramps to/from Holly Road will be closed 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday for resurfacing.

In Detroit, northbound I-75 will have a single lane open at Springwells Street from 7 a.m. until noon on Sunday. From noon until 7 p.m., two lanes will be open. The lane closures are needed for sign upgrading work.

I-96:

In Detroit, eastbound I-96 will have a single lane closed from Michigan Avenue to Vernor Highway from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday.

M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-53 between 21 and 23 Mile roads will have single-lane closures from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work. In conjunction, both directions of 22 Mile Road will be closed at M-53 during the same time.

M-102 (Eight Mile Road):

In Detroit, due to the resurfacing of 8 Mile Road between M-39 (Southfield Freeway) and US-24 (Telegraph Road), a traffic shift will be put in at 9 a.m. on Friday near Berg Road for work on the bridge over Plum Creek. Eastbound traffic will be shifted over to westbound with two lanes open in each direction.

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Detroit/Wayne County, both directions of Woodward Avenue between Pasadena and Waverly roads will have two lanes closed for maintenance beginning Friday, May 3 at 7 a.m. and ending Friday, May, 10 by 2 a.m.

Beginning the week of Monday, May 6:

I-75:

In Oakland County, double-lane closures will resume on southbound I-75 from Saginaw to Grange Hall roads. The closures are nightly from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday.

I-96:

In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound I-96 at Kent Lake Road will have single-lane closures daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
