Police: Mom Drove Drunk With Kids In The Car

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac woman is facing several charges after Troy police say she was drunk at the wheel with her four children in her vehicle.

Shemika Allen, 33,  was charged with operating while intoxicated, child endangerment, and fleeing police.

Police said, over the weekend, she was swerving, speeding and driving on a suspended license when she refused to pull over for police. Eventually, four Troy patrol vehicles boxed her in on I-75 near Wattles Road.

Four kids, between 5 and 13 years of age, were in the rear seat of the Malibu. An adult male was in the front passenger seat.

Police said breath test results read .17 percent -- more than twice the legal limit. She also had a warrant stemming from a previous drunken driving incident.

Allen is being held on a $20,000 cash/surety bond. She's due back in court next week.
