Family: Teen's Disappearance Linked To Facebook

TAYLOR (WWJ) - Family members believe the disappearance of a Taylor teen has something to do with a man she met on Facebook.

Diamond Williams, 14, left her home early Tuesday morning and has not been seen since.

Her aunt, Bernice Reed, said Diamond is developmentally disabled and they believe she ran off to be with an older man she had chatted with online.

Now, Reed said, they fear for the teen's life, especially after getting a frantic message one day after she disappeared.

"They've been to all the friends' homes, and that's how they found out that she ... actually had contacted a friend and said that she didn't know where she was and she was afraid," Reed said.

A missing persons report has been filed with Taylor police. Authorities say the case did not meet the requirement for an Amber Alert because the girl walked away on her own.

Reed is asking for the public's help.

"Our family through a lot," Reed said. "Her mom is devastated; the family is devastated.  We love her and we would like her to return home safely, unharmed. So please get her to the nearest police station or drop her off to the nearest hospital."

Anyone who sees Diamond or has information about her whereabouts is asked to contact police.
