Mount Clemens Showcases 'Made In Michigan'

MOUNT CLEMENS (CBS Detroit) – Love the mitten? Then it's time to honor all things made in Michigan.

Downtown Mount Clemens will host its second annual Made in Michigan Show on May 10-11.  This fun event will showcase products and goods that are made, grown, assembled, or manufactured in the state of Michigan.

This showcase's goal is to inform, educate, and encourage Michiganders, organizations, and consumers to support the local economy by buying products make in Michigan and from Michigan-based companies and vendors.

Pride, as well as environmental and economical consciousness, is fueling the popularity and interest in Michigan made goods. Consumers are realizing that their money spent locally is recirculated through the local economy thus supporting new jobs and investment in Michigan.  Since the items are produced in the state, Michigan made products greatly reduce the energy required to bring things to market.

Because downtown Mount Clemens is mainly comprised of small independent businesses, the Made In Michigan show reinforces the ongoing efforts to expand and strengthen the local economy.

Various studies have shown that shopping at independently locally owned businesses retains up to 73 percent of the dollars spent in the local economy versus shopping at non-locally owned businesses where only 43% of the purchase price stays in the local economy.

The Mount Clemens Made in Michigan show will be set up in beautiful and historic Downtown Mount Clemens on Macomb Place between Walnut and Pine Streets.  The even will take place on Friday, May 10 from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
