Are Remains Found Linked To Earlier Arrest In Dismemberment Case?

DETROIT (WWJ)- Police in Detroit  are investigating human remains found a few blocks from a Detroit apartment building where a woman's remains were discovered last week in a bathtub.

The department's Public Information office reports that remains were found Friday by officers in the homicide section who were conducting a follow-up investigation on a case.

The remains were near a burned-out house on the city's eastside.

On May 3rd, 72-year-old, Alphonso Jackson was arrested after police followed a trail of blood from a sidewalk to his eastside apartment where the woman's remains were found in the bathroom.

On Monday he was charged with disinterment of a body, tampering with evidence and concealing the death of a person at an east side senior citizen's home. Jackson, who was arraigned in Detroit's 36th District Court, and is being held in the psych ward as he awaits trial.

Jackson was ordered held on a $2 million bond.
