Woman Killed, Crushed Between Cars In Parking Garage

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A Roseville woman has died after a freak accident at a Birmingham parking garage.

A police investigation revealed that 45-year-old Michaele Love was pushing her stalled van through the garage Monday afternoon when it began to roll forward on its own. Police said Love tried to stop it but it sideswiped a parked car -- and she found herself pinned in between the two vehicles.

Police said a bystander dialed 911 and Love was found unresponsive by the time a rescue crew arrived.  She was rushed to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where she died.

Birmingham Police Commander Terry Kiernan said he's never seen anything like this before.

" I mean I heard it on the radio, and it just kind of sounded unusual the way the call came out," Kiernan said. "And then by the time we responded over there and realized what had occurred. I mean the only word everyone was using at the scene from the first responders was, 'This is the most freakish accident that we've ever seen.'"

Kiernan said, if your car stalls, don't push it by yourself -- wait for help.

The Detroit News reported Love was working as a babysitter and was en route to pick up the child at the Montessori School next to the garage, on the 300 block of Old Woodward.

An Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine an exact cause of death.
