Michigan Toddler Dies When TV Falls On Her

ATTICA TOWNSHIP (AP) – Officials say a 1-year-old Michigan girl died after being struck by a falling television over the weekend.

According to Lapeer County sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Parks, another child apparently was opening up a dresser the TV was on when the dresser and TV fell over.

Parks says the girl was standing in front of the 32-inch, 69-pound television and was hit in the head when it fell. He says the mother was in a bedroom next door, and the children were out of her sight for a short period.

The girl was struck Saturday at the home in Attica Township, 45 miles north of Detroit.

The Flint Journal reports the medical examiner’s office ruled the death to be an accident.

Parks calls it “an unfortunate, tragic event.”
