Thousands Of Pickle Jars Litter Van Dyke Ave.

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Van Dyke Avenue was closed for hours on Wednesday after a semi truck carrying 38,000 pounds of empty pickle jars flipped over while coming out of the roundabout at M-53.

Police shut down Van Dyke as well as the northbound entrance ramp to M-53 so crews could clean up following the crash. The fuel tank ruptured and diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway.

No was injured in the accident and no other cars were involved.

The roadway reopened just before the afternoon rush -- at around 3:45 p.m.
