Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! It's the weekend again, and road work crews are expected to be out in full force across metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Detroit/Wayne County, eastbound and westbound I-94 between 8 Mile and Cadieux roads will have left lane closures during from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Friday for lighting and sign work.

In Detroit/Wayne County, eastbound and westbound I-94 between Cadieux Road and Conner Avenue will have left lane closures from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday for lighting and sign work.

In Wayne County, the westbound I-94 exit and entrance ramps at Chalmers/Outer Drive will be closed from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday for lighting work.

In Wayne County, the left lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from 30th Street to I-96 from 8 p.m. Friday until 10 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work at West Grand Boulevard overpass.

In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound I-94 between Michigan and Livernois avenues will have overnight double-lane closures from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and by 5 a.m. Monday. The one exception is Saturday, when the eastbound lane closures will be pulled back by 4 a.m. to accommodate special event traffic heading into downtown Detroit.

In Wayne County, the ramp from eastbound I-94 to eastbound I-96 will be closed for maintenance from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

In Macomb County, the left lane of westbound I-94 will be closed around the clock from Masonic Boulevard to I-696 beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and ending early July.

I-75:

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have two lanes closed from Saginaw Road to M-15 nightly 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Thursday and Friday nights, and from 10 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday morning for resurfacing.

In Oakland County, the entrance and exit ramps from Grange Hall Road to southbound I-75 will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday for paving.

In Oakland County, the rest area located at southbound I-75 and Clarkston Road will be closed for maintenance from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday.

M-53 (Van Dyke):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-53 at 21 Mile Road will have single-lane closures from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work. In conjunction, both directions of 21 Mile Road will be closed between Van Dyke Avenue and Schoenherr Highway during the same time.

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Detroit/Wayne County, northbound and southbound M-1 (Woodward Avenue) will be closed between Warren Road and Adams Street from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday for the Komen Race for the Cure.

Old M-14 (Ann Arbor Road):

In Wayne County, eastbound and westbound Ann Arbor Road will have multiple lane closures between I-275 and Market Street from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Saturday for pavement repairs. Expect intermittent closures at the intersections during the same time.

M-85 (Fort Street):

In Wayne County, northbound Fort Street will be closed from Pagel Street to Southfield Road from 9 a.m. until noon Sunday for a parade.

Beginning the week of Monday, May 20:

I-75:

In Wayne County, the northbound I-75 exit to Eureka Road will be closed at 6 a.m. Monday until early July for reconstruction. Exiting traffic will be detoured to Allen Road.
