DETROIT (WWJ) – Homicide. Death by strangulation is the determination by officials.
That determination Friday from the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office in the now murder of a 35-year-old Grosse Pointe Park woman. The body of Sabrina Gianino was recovered early Thursday morning from a flat she often shared with her boyfriend, on Wayburn Street, near Alter and Jefferson.
Nicole Hamborski lives next door and spoke with WWJ Newsradio 950.
“There’s just a sense of … grief, I guess, through those of us neighbors that were around,” said Hamborski. “I just hope he’s okay, I can’t imagine what he’s going through right now.”
Patrons at a local bar said WWJ that they couldn’t see the boyfriend being any part of this crime.
“No way, no way would he do something,” said one patron, with another echoing his remarks.
Stewart Taylor was visiting next door in the quiet Grosse Point Park neighborhood: “I didn’t even realize that anything like that would even happen here,” he said. “But I mean, terrible things happen anywhere so I quess it doesn’t surprise me.”
Police have questioned and released that boyfriend who was the one to call 9-1-1. No other details are being shared regarding the ongoing investigation.
