Arrest Made In Firebombing Of Van Elslander Home

GROSSE POINTE PARK (WWJ) - An arrest has been made in connection with the firebombing of a home in Grosse Pointe Park late last week.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged 20-year-old Charles Patterson Kay of Grosse Pointe Park in connection with that firebombing. The home is owned by a member of the Van Elslander family, which owns the Art Van Furniture chain.

Police say early Friday morning a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the Van Elslander home. No one was injured, but the residence did sustain some damage.

Kay faces numerous charges including second degree arson and possession of a molotov cocktail.

Kay is expected to be arraigned Saturday at the Grosse Pointe Park Municipal Court.
