Report: Arrest In Grosse Pointe Park Murder

GROSSE POINTE PARK (WWJ) – Police are not commenting on reports that there’s a suspect in custody in connection with the murder of a Grosse Pointe Park woman.

While there are no formal charges at this point, there is word that a man living next door to the victim — 35-year-old Sabrina Gianino — was arrested Monday in connection with her death.

Gianino’s boyfriend — who lives at the apartment where she was found — was the first to call 911. Police immediately called the death suspicious, and on Friday the Wayne County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death as homicide — “death by strangulation.”

Reports indicate a small cord was found around Gianino’s neck.  There was also blood near the body, which was located in a rear area of the boyfriend’s first floor flat on Wayburn St. near East Jefferson Avenue.

Grosse Pointe Park police aren’t saying when they plan to offer an update on the case.
