Study: Your Lipstick Could Be Toxic
DETROIT (WWJ) - Is your favorite shade of lipstick giving you the kiss of death?
University of California, Berkeley researchers have found high levels of toxic metals in lipstick and lip gloss.
The researchers tested 32 different lipsticks and lip glosses and found alarming levels of lead, cadmium, chromium, aluminum and other metals.
A separate Canadian study found 96 percent of the eyeliners, mascaras and bronzers tested contained lead.
The medical implications may be serious because some metals are linked to health problems, like memory loss and even cancer.
Natural health experts advise you look for cosmetics labeled "organic" and made from natural sources.
