Detroit Teen Arrested For Attempted Robbery In Ferndale

FERNDALE (WWJ) - A Detroit teenager is sitting behind bars after he and another crook attempted to rob two women in Ferndale.

Police say 17-year-old Justin Goodman is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on charges related to the early morning incident.

According to police, two women in their 30s were walking on W. 9 Mile Road near Woodward Avenue just after midnight when they were approached by Goodman and another suspect.

The women told police the men demanded their money and other property, and one of the suspects pointed a pistol at them.

The women walked across the street and said they had nothing, but the men continued to demand property from them, police said. When the women crossed Woodward into the median, one of them said she was calling the cops and the suspects fled westbound.

Officers from Ferndale, Hazel Park and Oak Park responded to the area to search for the suspects, who fled through the neighborhoods on foot.

Police say they caught Goodman hiding near the Ferndale fire station. The other suspect, who was not identified, remains at large.

The case is being presented to the prosecutor for a determination of charges.

Anyone with information on the second suspect is asked to contact Ferndale police at 248-541-3650.
