Man Seriously Hurt In 100mph Motorcycle Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) – A motorcyclist is hospitalized with serious injuries after police say he crashed while speeding along the freeway.

Police said the man was traveling at about 100 miles per hour on Eastbound I-96 when his bike slammed into the back of a Jeep Liberty. The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital, but no one else was hurt.

The freeway was shut down at Martin Luther King following the crash,  just after 5 p.m. Thursday. Police said, due to the extent of the man’s injuries, the freeway would be closed for a couple of hours while they conducted a full-scale investigation.

The man was wearing a helmet.

His name was not immediately released.
