SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) – Looking for a job or ready to start a new career? Southfield is where you want to be this afternoon.
The Hired In Michigan Career Expo runs until 3 p.m. Friday at the Westin Hotel, at 1500 Town Center, near Northwestern Hwy. at Civic Center Drive.
Participating companies include Quicken Loans, United Shore Financial, WADL TV 38, Dart Appraisal, Michigan Education Transportation Services, Shambuagh & Sons, Asset Acceptance, Senior Helpers, HTC Global Services, Northwestern Technologies, Dorsey Schools, Speedway Stores, Amira Medical Staffing, Mobile Doctors, ITT Technical Institute, Credit Acceptance, Uncle Ed’s Oil Shoppe, AFLAC Insurance, Global Information Technology, First Financial and many other companies.
C.J. Eason, Community Outreach Director , for Job Fair Giant, said recruiters from these companies will be on site, looking to quickly fill open positions.
“Job Fair Giant requires that any company that participates in our career fair actually has viable positions available today,” Eason told WWJ’s Pat Sweeting. “So, we don’t allow companies to harvest resumes, or collect resumes for future … you have to have positions available today.”
Eason said many of these companies are offering $14 to $18 an hour to start. “The reason why a lot of the companies are hiring at those types of wages for entry-level positions is because the need is so great,” she said.
Job Fair Giant hosts career expos every month. Candidates who wish to participate are urged to submit their resumes and get more information at this link.
Note: Recruiters will conduct on site interviews job seekers must wear “professional clothing.”
