Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! It's the weekend again, and road work crews are expected to be out in full force across metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-94:

In Detroit/Wayne County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have alternating single- and double-lane closures between Cadieux Road and Conner Avenue from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday, and again from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday for lighting and sign work.

In Detroit, eastbound I-94 will have a single left-lane closure at the M-10 interchange from 7-10 a.m. on Saturday for bridge inspections.

In Macomb County, westbound I-94 will be reduced to one lane from Masonic Boulevard to 11 Mile Road from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday for paving.

I-275:

In Oakland County, southbound I-275 will have moving intermittent single-lane closures from Haggerty Road to 8 Mile Road from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will have a single lane open from Ecorse Road to Ford Road from 4 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, and southbound I-275 will have a single lane open from Ford Road to Ecorse Road from 4 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday. The lane closures are needed for wrap-up work from construction last year.

I-75:

In Oakland County, southbound I-75 will have a single lane open from Saginaw Road to M-15 from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, and again from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Saturday.

I-696:

In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound I-696 will have moving intermittent single-lane closures between Lahser Road and I-75 from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday.

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Woodward Avenue will be closed at the 9 Mile Road intersection for a local event beginning Saturday at 5 a.m. through Monday at 5 a.m.

M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue):

In Wayne County, both directions of Van Dyke will have single-lane closures between Grinnell Street and 8 Mile Road from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on weekends Friday through Tuesday.

Beginning the week of Monday, June 3:

I-94:

In Wayne County, the westbound I-94 exit and entrance ramps at Van Dyke Avenue will be closed beginning Monday at 7 a.m. through early October for bridge work.

I-96:

In Wayne County, in the local lanes of westbound I-96, the exit to Grand River Avenue will be closed beginning Monday at 6 a.m. and ending Sunday, June 9, at 11 p.m. for I-96 service drive paving.

I-696:

In Oakland County, eastbound I-696 will have multiple lane closures from the I-96/I-275/M-5 interchange to Telegraph Road nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. until Monday through Friday.

M-1 (Woodward Avenue):

In Oakland County, northbound Woodward Avenue at Troy Street will have single-lane closures daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

M-59 (Highland Road):

In Oakland County, westbound Highland Road near Crescent Lake Road will have single-lane closures daily 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
