OXFORD (WWJ) – UPDATE – SUNDAY 2:05 p.m. The search has ended for a 15-year-old Oakland County girl who went missing Friday morning. The family of Megan Abbott says the Oxford teen has been found dead near Oxford High School — and apparently took her own life.
Her mother told WWJ earlier Sunday that Abbott was upset over a breakup with her boyfriend. A family friend also says she was bullied.
A search is being conducted in Oxford for 15-year-old Megan Abbott, who hasn’t been seen since she left Oxford High School Friday morning.
Her mother, Amy Hafeli, is taking part in that search along the Polly Ann Trail in Oxford.
“Oh, yeah. I’m not going to sit home, I can’t, I’ll go crazy,” said Hafeli.
“One minute I think she’s going to come home alive next minute I don’t think she is. So, I … it’s the best that a mother could hold up at this time.”
Hafeli fears for her daughter’s safety, saying she may be upset about a break-up with her boyfriend.
She’s described as 5′ 3″, 135 pounds with long sandy brown hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a pink scarf.
