Livio Tools Create New Revenue Opportunties For OEMs, App Developers

NOVI (WWJ) -- Ferndale-based Livio Wednesday announced two new products at Telematics Update, the connected vehicle show at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Livio Keys and the FM Traffic Button are designed to generate new revenue for car manufacturers and app developers.

"Customer retention is important in automotive and Livio Keys is a great line of communication between OEMs, dealerships, customers and app partners," said Livio founder and CEO Jake Sigal. "We're helping the apps and content partners deal directly with the OEMs for promotions and marketing. Products that offer tools for integrated communication like Livio Keys are exactly what telematics is about."

Livio Keys is intended to be a communications system for everything related to autos and apps. It's a link between vehicle manufacturers and software developers that's loaded with tools and customizable services. It works with both Bluetooth audio (A2DP) and proprietary link protocols, which includes compatibility with HTML5 sites, mobile apps from iTunes, Android, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and OEM-installed dashboard apps.

Livio also unveiled its FM Traffic Button at Telematics Update Detroit.

The FM Traffic Button provides traffic reports for US markets updated every few minutes. The system, enabled by code added to an embedded app on the in-vehicle infotainment system and accessed by a button on its user interface, offers real-time audio traffic updates.

Up-to-date traffic information is relayed in the vehicle at the push of a button, and OEMs can share revenue generated through ad-sponsored traffic reports. This sponsored advertising could finally provide significant recurring revenue opportunities for OEMs through AM/FM radio.

Telematics Update runs June 5-6 and Livio will have demonstrations for both Livio Keys and the FM Traffic Button in booth 35 of the Suburban Collection Showplace.
