Automation Alley Hires New Events And Promotions Manager: Automation Alley, Michigan's largest technology business association, has welcomed a new events and promotions manager to its team this month, complementing and enhancing its staff of professionals dedicated to the organization, its members and its mission. Diane DeForest comes to Automation Alley with a deep resume of event planning, marketing and promotional experience and will take the lead on several of the association's signature events, including the Automation Alley 13th Annual Awards Gala on Sept. 13 as well as business conferences, the Annual Golf Outing, seminars and networking events. Most recently, DeForest was director of marketing and communications for the Detroit Economic Club, with a hand in more than 140 events. She was also the marketing lead at Starbucks' regional office in Rochester Hills, directing marketing and public relations campaigns for 400-plus Starbucks stores in the Midwest and on the East Coast. DeForest has also worked as marketing director for Kmart and mall developer Taubman Company. She studied business and marketing at Eastern Michigan University. Since its founding in 1999, Automation Alley has expanded to include nearly 1,000 businesses, educational institutions and government entities from the city of Detroit and the surrounding eight-county region.
