Max Scherzer First Tiger To Start Season 9-0 In 75 Years

Tigers starter Max Scherzer became the first Detroit pitcher to start a season 9-0 in 75 years as he defeated the Royals in Kansas City Tuesday night.

Scherzer gave up just two runs over seven solid innings and 103 pitches in the 3-2 win as his ERA is at 3.19. He gave up just three hits — including the first homer of the year for David Lough — and walked two batters with six strikeouts.
