2 Charged In Gas Siphoning Scheme In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Two Detroit men have been charged after police found a siphoning system being used to steal fuel from a gas station's underground storage tank.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says that 31-year-old Michael Thomas and 21-year-old Wardell Arrington are charged with malicious destruction of a building, larceny, and second-degree retail fraud.
About 100 gallons of gas had been pumped into a 250-gallon tank in the back of a parked van when police spotted the vehicle and a tube stretching into an open tank cover at a northwest Detroit BP station.
The two are expected to be arraigned Saturday.
