Police Capture Man Who Fled After Rollover Crash

FERNDALE (WWJ) - Police in Ferndale said they have arrested a man who fled from the scene of a rollover accident.

Everett Adams, a 41-year-old Oak Park resident, is expected to be arraigned Friday on charges related to the incident.

According to police, Adams was involved in an accident that occurred around 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Emwill and Beaufield streets, in neighborhood near 8 Mile Road and Livernois Avenue.

Police say witness reports indicate Adams was driving a pick-up truck at a high rate of speed eastbound on Emwill and ran through the stop sign at Beaufield. Adam's truck slammed into an Oldsmobile Alero that was crossing southbound through the intersection, forcing it off of the street into the front yard of a residence. Adam's truck then rolled onto its side and landed in the same front yard.

After the collision, police say Adams tried to escape by running several blocks through yards and over fences. Officers responded to the area and were able to catch Adams and take him into custody.

Meantime, the 19-year-old Ferndale woman who was driving the other vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Police say the incident is going to be turned over to the prosecutor's office for review.
