Resurfacing Begins Along I-75 In Detroit On Monday
DETROIT (WWJ) - Four miles of I-75 freeway in Detroit will be resurfaced beginning Monday.
M-Dot spokesman Rob Morosi says they will resurface more than four miles of I-75 between I-94 and 7 Mile Road.
"We're gonna restrict this to overnight hours. During the weekdays, crews will be working from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. That being done just so we don't interfere with rush hour traffic," said Morosi.
"We're having a, a roadway that's obviously heavily used as you know, close to 100,000 vehicles a day on that section of 75 and it's time. We're starting to see some stress in the pavement and some of the joints are beginning to fail which will lead to cracks in the pavement which can open up and cause premature deterioration."
The four-point-seven million dollar project will be done during overnight hours on weekdays and is expected to be completed in October.
Crews will vary weekend hours to accommodate special events.
