Metro Airport Terminal Briefly Evacuated

ROMULUS (WWJ) - Detroit Metro Airport's McNamara terminal was partially evacuated, Tuesday morning, due to an alert about some "suspicious cargo."

At around 10:30 a.m. a bomb-sniffing dog sounded the alarm about some cargo on a plane on a ramp on the south end of the McNamara Terminal.  The find prompted the partial evacuation of a 10-gate radius on concourse A.

Passengers were kept away for about an hour while airport police and the TSA investigated.  The cargo in question was x-rayed and nothing suspicious was found.

Passenger Eric Martinez from Texas said he's encountered these situations before.

"I've spent most of my life in and out of airports, so I know delays happen. So, it doesn't bother me," Martinez said.

The affected area was near the middle of the terminal, and the rest of the airport was operating normally.

No one was hurt.
