Letterman Calls Jeff Daniels 'Go-To Guy On All Things Michigan'

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Why isn't it called the Upper Peninsula of Wisconsin? Actor and Michigan native Jeff Daniels addressed that question -- and more -- when he visited funnyman David Letterman's "The Late Show" Wednesday.

Daniels, who still calls Michigan home, talked to Letterman about life Up North.

"There's a lot to do," Daniels said, adding,"Actually what you can do up there, and they do it really well, is drink. It's woods, it's fishing, it's hunting and it's drinking, that what they're really, really ... And proud of it too."

Letterman responded: "I knew you'd be the go-to guy on all things Michigan."

They went on to discuss The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. "Can't take a car," Daniels said. "You can ride a horse, you can ride a one-speed bike ... It's got the longest porch in the history of porches if that matters to you."

Letterman described the island as "stunningly beautiful" and "picturesque."
