Woodward Ave. Chase Ends In Tasing, Arrest

PONTIAC (WWJ) – A 27-year-old Waterford man was Tasered and arrested Thursday after authorities say he led them on a chase through Oakland County.

The chase began in Pontiac where Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies say they thought they saw a drug deal going down.  When the a deputy approached the suspect vehicle — a 2004 Honda — on foot, the driver sped away.

The suspect fled down Woodward Avenue, with deputies in pursuit, eventually hitting another car at the Square Lake Road intersection in Bloomfield Township.  After that, authorities say the suspect left the roadway, went off an embankment and down to the railroad tracks.

Driving down the tracks proved problematic, and the suspect ditched his vehicle. A foot pursuit ensued until the suspect was Tasered and apprehended.

The driver refused to provide his name at the scene and was taken to the Oakland County Jail where he was identified.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, had an outstanding felony warrant for resisting and obstructing. He was expected to be arraigned on Friday.

Sheriff’s officials said the three occupants of the vehicle that collided with the suspect’s suffered only minor injuries.
