River Days Wrap Up With George Clinton Headlining

DETROIT (WWJ) - Thousands of people are descending onto the Detroit Riverfront for an annual event.

GM River Days is in its final day but event producer Jon Witz told WWJ's Zahra Huber the event is jam packed:

"We have sterling entertaining and musicians, stilt walkers, jugglers, folks eating fire, break-dancing - just wonderful entertainment and then we are lined up with activities along the Riverfront," said Witz.

He said that there will also be Coast Guard tours and jet ski exhibitions; "the tall ship tour at Port Authority."

Witz says they also have an 18-ride carnival as well as other fun activities for the kids.

There will also be a number of musical acts and headlining this evening is singer George Clinton who will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

The event features food booths, and street entertainers like magicians and acrobats, along with rides along the river on the Diamond Jack.

The crowds yesterday lead to heavy traffic in the downtown area.
