Biosolutions Achieves NSF International's Nonfood Compounds Registration: Grand Haven-based Biosolutions LLC said it has added NSF Nonfood Compounds Registration to its BioSafe Disinfectant, Cleaner, Sanitizer product, and its popular Clean & Green product line. NSF Nonfood Compounds Registration includes all compounds used in and around food establishments (nonfood compounds), such as disinfectants, and verifies that formulations and labels meet appropriate food safety regulations. These Clean & Green products have been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency's Design for the Environment Program for Safer Chemistry since 2006, and now these same products have also been recognized by NSF International. NSF Registration is based on the NSF Registration Guidelines (formerly USDA Guidelines for Obtaining Authorization of Compounds to be Used in Meat and Poultry Plants), which includes: Formulation review against CFR Title 21, 9, and 40; Label review and confirmation of appropriate use instructions; Verification of intended use classification and category code; and Issuance of registration letter. BioSafe, an EPA registered product, has been distributed by Biosolutions since 2007. Now with the NSF listing, Biosolutions will be able to introduce BioSafe to the food industry.
