Detroit City Councilman Gary Brown Expected To Resign
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit City Councilman Gary Brown is expected to resign this week — but he won't have to travel very far for his next job because word is he's going to join Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr's team.
President Pro Tem Gary Brown says he will be at the City Council table at 10 a.m. to chair a committee meeting, but it could be his last time in that seat. Sources say Brown, a former Detroit police officer, could join Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr's team as early as today.
What will his job be? Brown is expected to head up a restructuring of government operations.
Brown made a name for himself in Detroit after winning a multi-million-dollar whistleblower lawsuit against the city that led to the eventual downfall of ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who's now locked up in federal prison.
