DETROIT (WWJ) - Governor Rick Snyder was in town to speak to a group of college interns about their work experience and staying in Michigan after graduation.
Snyder was asked questions about the city of Detroit, budget struggles and the recent addition of Emergency Manager, Kevyn Orr.
That included what to tell the city’s workers who have taken a lot of hits throughout the emergency manager process.
“Oh, that’s one of the challenges , and it’s a difficult time, but if they are a city employee – we hope to get into a situation where there will be better service to citizens and so hopefully there is a good long-term future for them – by working for the city,” Snyder said.
Snyder wouldn’t speculate on whether or not the city would enter into Chapter 9 Bankruptcy. Adding that he hopes it isn’t necessary.
