Karmanos Cancer Institute's 20th Annual Partners Events honor Danialle and Peter Karmanos, Jr.: Join the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute as it celebrates its 20th Annual Partners Events, a signature two-part fundraiser honoring outstanding philanthropists who support Karmanos' exceptional cancer care and innovative research. This year's honorees are the Institute's largest benefactors - Danialle and Peter Karmanos, Jr. The Partners Golf Classic will take place Monday, Sept. 9, at Franklin Hills Country Club. The Partners Night, a strolling dinner with a special guest comedian, will take place Saturday, Oct. 5, at The Fillmore Detroit. Since Partners' inception, the group has raised nearly $13 million through the Partners Events to support the Karmanos Cancer Institute's exceptional state-of-the science research. This year's Partners Events will help support the additional recruitment of highly accomplished cancer scientists, complementing the exceptional cancer research already underway at Karmanos. The  Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is one of 41 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. The center cares for more than 6,000 new patients annually on a budget of $265 million and  conducts more than 700 cancer-specific scientific investigation programs and clinical trials.

Biz leaders bring back CEO event: Business Leaders for Michigan is bringing back its Michigan CEO Summit for the second year. The event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, 1114 Washington Boulevard.  The theme is: "Today's Global Marketplace: How To Move Beyond Competitive To Winning."
