Alex Avila Activated Off 15-Day DL

The Tigers activated catcher Alex Avila (forearm) off the 15-day disabled list following Monday’s 8-3 loss at Toronto. Catcher Bryan Holaday was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to make room on the roster.

Avila hit .242 (8 for 33) in eight rehab games for Toledo, but he hit .333 (7 for 21) over his final five games. He totaled one home run, two doubles, five RBI, three runs, two walks and 10 strikeouts for Toledo.
