TROY (WWJ) - Someone who bought a $1 lottery ticket in Troy is now $79 million richer.

The winning numbers for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing are 2-23-41-47-54 with Mega Ball 42.

The jackpot winning ticket was sold at John’s Market on East Square Lake Road, just east of Livernois.

Market owner Bill Shuewayhat said he’s thrilled that the store his dad opened more than 50 years ago will receive a $30,000 windfall for selling the winning ticket. He said instead of blowing the money on a big vacation or new car, he’s going to pay off some debt.

“When the economy comes back to life, then we can start living again. But it’s been a struggle for a long time,” he said.

Shuewayhat said he hopes the winner is deserving and is someone who could really use the jackpot cash to turn their life around.

Lottery officials say whoever holds the winning ticket must make a trip to Lansing to claim their prize.
