Man Found Unconscious On Porch As Fire Blazes In Taylor

TAYLOR (WWJ) - Two people were injured in a house fire in Taylor Saturday. The fire in the 9000 block of Rackham started in the garage and that's where most of the damage occurred.

Taylor deputy fire chief Dan Reynolds described what they found when they arrived.

"They also found an unconscious man on the front porch that was in cardiac arrest at the time, so simultaneously they attached the fire and provided first-aid to the individual," said Reynolds.

The man is in critical condition and Reynolds says the woman has minor injuries.

Hoyt Green lives on Rackham next door to the couple.

"I seen fire coming out of the garage ... the fire was bad, real bad," said Green.

A large amount of common household items and belongings were said to have been destroyed in the blaze.

A neighbor says three dogs, a cat, and a rabbit were rescued from the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
