Late Night Traffic Stop Proves This Cop Delivers!

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - It was a wild night for a Wayne County Sheriff's deputy who was about to wrap up his shift late Saturday night.

As WWJ Newsradio 950's Beth Fisher reports before his night was over he helped bring a baby into the world.

Sergeant Brian Glatfelter saw a vehicle speeding through several red lights on Michigan Avenue near Gulley Road around 11:40 last night.

He pulled the vehicle over only to find that the passenger was a woman in the final stages of labor.

The driver was rushing to get his wife to Oakwood Hospital .

Glatfelter called for EMS ... but time was running out.

With the father's assistance, Glatfelter delivered a baby girl in the front seat of the vehicle all within five minutes of stopping the couple.

EMS arrived within minutes and took the mom, dad and baby to the hospital.

Mother and baby are reported to be doing well.
