Metallurgical High Vacuum Releases New Video Featuring Its "Survivor" High Vacuum Pumps

FENNVILLE -- The Fennville-based vacuum pump producer Metallurgical High Vacuum has released a new video showing the construction and manufacturing of its latest "Survivor" high vacuum pumps.

The HS430 "Survivor" pumps incorporate multiple oil filters that extend the life of the pump by removing particles and acid which are harmful. This design extends pump life and increases the return on investment significantly.

"We have 15 Survivor pumps with over 350,000 hours in operation," said Geoff Humberstone, MHV president. "Their 'Smart Filters' are soaking up the acids and particles that can kill standard pumps."

MHV is the only manufacturer that builds the filtration into the original pump design that can reduce maintenance costs significantly over the pump lifetime. 

"In many vacuum systems contamination from the heat treating or brazing furnaces can kill a pump long before its time is up," Humberstone said. "Corroded bearings and worn out internal parts can result from particles and acid." 

MHV recently shipped Survivor vacuum pumps for heat treating furnaces built by Ipsen going to a major heat treater in the United States. Said Humberstone: "The customer chose the MHV pumps for their longer life capabilities with positive pressure oil filtration in severe environments. We look for future orders from heat treaters which want longer life and less downtime."

MHV Survivor vacuum pumps use a proven oil-sealed rotary piston design for excellent reliability even in demanding operating conditions encountered in heat treating operations.

Their pressurized oil lubrication increases pump life significantly with filters that clean the oil of particulates and acids. This pump design reduces the cost of ownership over the life of the pump, and helps to reduce periodic maintenance.

A standard gear-type oil pump provides positive lubrication of bearings and all other moving parts. Clean oil is forced into the critical hinge bar/piston slide tang interface. The eccentric bearing bands are also pressure lubricated. The heavy-duty roller bearing design on main shaft extends life and gives better resistance to corrosion.
