Weather Underground, Arbormoon Partner On Release of 'WunderMap' For Android Tablets

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- Ann Arbor-based Arbormoon Software Inc. announced the completion and release of the WunderMap Android tablet app for client Weather Underground, a division of The Weather Co., producers of The Weather Channel.

This is Weather Underground's first Android tablet app, joining their mobile line up of Android phone and iOS apps.

Arbormoon has a strong development presence across iOS, Android, and other mobile platforms, but has seen significant growth in Android related projects in the past year, with other major releases for XanEdu, FlockTag, and a branding app for a Top 10 Fortune Global company.

"The Android presence is growing fast," said Arbormoon president Dave Koziol. "As a result, we've expanded our space and our staff, and have built a strong expertise in the Android area."

Weather Underground mobile project manager Katrina Svoboda had this to say about  comments on Arbormoon's Android expertise:"Weather Underground had the pleasure of working with Arbormoon for the entirety of the WunderMap app project. From strategy to design to crisp coding, Arbormoon exceeded our expectations as a development partner. We are extremely happy with the quality of the WunderMap app, and we have Arbormoon to thank for their hard work, responsiveness, and collaboration."

WunderMap app users can tap into one of the 30,000+ personal weather stations to see hyper-local weather conditions and forecasts, track a storm in real time, and customize a variety of weather layers to access the most relevant weather information. WunderMap is a fully interactive experience that allows users to customize the weather data plotted on the Google Map interface -- making it relevant for both the savvy storm tracker or the casual weather user on the go.

"WunderMap and the touch-screen device are a perfect match," said Alan Steremberg, President and co-founder of Weather Underground. "Being able to swipe across the world and zoom in to see our hyper-local weather within such an interactive user interface makes WunderMap a unique way for consumers to access weather information."

Other features of the app include:
* Current conditions, extended forecasts, and weather graphs for every location
* Special weather statements and advisories
* Customizable location presets and favorites
* Enhanced animation options
* Advanced search functionality
* New map interface options
* Free to download in the Google Play or iTunes Store
* Ad-free membership upgrade available for $1.99
