Semi Truck Loses Load On I-94

DETROIT (WWJ) - Early morning drivers hit a snag on I-94 in Detroit Thursday after a shipping container fell from a semi truck and blocked the roadway.

WWJ Traffic Reporter John Bailey said the incident happened around 2:40 a.m. on eastbound I-94 between the I-96 interchange and Linwood Street.

A shipping container fell from the back of a tractor-trailer and ended up in the left two lanes, leaving only the right lane open. By 7 a.m., crews had the shipping container moved to the shoulder, allowing for traffic to pass more freely.

Efforts to clean up the accident are ongoing.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the shipping container to fall from the truck, although reports say the container may have hit an overpass.
