Dead, Malnourished Animals Found In Macomb County Barn

ARMADA TWP. (WWJ) - Police called to a barn in Macomb County found the remains of several dead animals and removed 19 other malnourished animals from the property.

Michigan State Police say they responded to the 18000 block of 34 Mile Road, near Romeo Plank Road in Armada Township, around 2 p.m. Thursday after receiving an animal cruelty complaint.

Macomb County Animal Control called in the complaint after learning that several animals were located in a barn without proper food and water.

Troopers, along with animal control agents who responded to the scene, recovered two steers, 10 sheep and seven goats from the barn and observed the remains of dead animals on the property. The animals were transported to the Macomb County Animal Shelter for medical care.

No one was at the barn at the time of the raid and police have said they aren't sure who even owns the property. However, police say the case remains under investigation for potential animal cruelty charges.
