Grand Rapids' OST Hiring In New Downtown Detroit Office

GRAND RAPIDS (WWJ) -- Open Systems Technologies Inc. announced this week the opening of a new branch office at 28 W. Adams Ave., Detroit, on the 17th floor of the Grand Park Centre building.

OST now has offices in Grand Rapids, the city of its founding, along with Ann Arbor and Minneapolis.

OST officials said the 1,000-square-foot-plus new office was required to meet growing client demand in the southeast Michigan region.

OST Detroit currently houses seven employees, and is looking to hire up to seven more in application development, technical consulting, project management and sales.

Clients served through the OST Detroit office include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Cummins, the University of Michigan, Roush and Cooper Tire.

OST was founded in Grand Rapids in 1997 and opened its Ann Arbor office in 2012.

The company said the long-term goal for the Detroit office is also to expand into a larger space, staying within the historic Grand Park Centre Building as they grow their client and employee footprint throughout Southeast Michigan.

"The energy in downtown Detroit is amazing, said OST president and CEO Dan Behm. "There is a lot of talent there, especially in the tech industry. OST wants to be part of that community and the excitement in order to help in Detroit's comeback. We see Detroit as the engine that moves the state. In addition, no matter where you go, business leaders like to do business with people they know, whether it is from the same schools or softball teams. Our company and employees put a lot of effort into giving back to the community. The relationship value is extremely important.

OST Detroit provides application development, managed IT services, data center architecting and other services, virtual desktop infrastructure, IT security assessments, cloud design services and hardware reselling.

OST has revenue of about $80 million a year and has been growing at a compound rate of 30 percent per year or better since 2003.
